When we established our mission to make the best tasting kettle-cooked chips while reducing waste and helping farmers we thought, what else can we do? Uglies is a brand born to help and we targeted the issue of global childhood hunger.
As a food manufacturer, we felt an obligation to help and, as a problem solver we found a way. Uglies Kettle-Cooked Potato Chips goes above and beyond to reduce waste and support farmers and we also donate 10% of the profits from every bag of Uglies sold to VivaKids – a charitable organization whose core mission is to meet the nutritional needs of children around the world.
“Since my grandfather started the business more than fifty years ago, we have been committed to helping children and giving back to the community,” says Nevin Dieffenbach, President and CEO of Uglies’ parent brand Dieffenbach’s Snacks. “We plan on continuing that tradition.”
The sad fact is, 20% of the world’s children under the age of five are undernourished. Reducing food waste is a step in the right direction but by partnering with a proactive organization like VivaKids Uglies is able to make a realistic impact on the problem.
Uglies Kettle-Cooked Potato Chips’ partnership with VivaKids, goes beyond monetary support as team members periodically participate at VivaKids supported centers.
